Malayalam, my mother tongue, was listed as a language taught for the first year pre-university classes. There was also a text book \u2014 \u2018<em>Malayala Manjari<\/em>\u2019 \u2014 listed on the site as one of the books in the syllabus.\u00a0What was more interesting was how <strong>Malayalam<\/strong> was spelled on both \u2014 the webpage and the title page of the book.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"pue_kar_webpage_01aug202o.png\" src=\"http:\/\/raks.in\/deux\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pue_kar_webpage_01aug202o.png\" alt=\"Pue kar webpage 01aug202o\" width=\"299\" height=\"261\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"pue_mal_book_titlepage_01aug2020.png\" src=\"http:\/\/raks.in\/deux\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pue_mal_book_titlepage_01aug2020.png\" alt=\"Malayala Manjari _ title page - 01 aug 2020\" width=\"299\" height=\"288\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The spelling on the web site was \u201c<strong>Malaylam<\/strong>\u201d (missing an \u2018<strong>a<\/strong>\u2019) and the spelling on the book title was \u2018<strong>Malayalayam<\/strong>\u2019 (an extra \u2018<strong>y<\/strong>\u2019 and an extra \u2018<strong>a<\/strong>\u2019).<\/p>\n<p>We all make typos. So the idea of this post is not to point out the mistake or to ridicule \u2014 but to give a tip on how to avoid this mistake. \u201c<strong>MALAYALAM<\/strong>\u2019 \u2014 the word when spelled in English \u2014 is a <strong>Palindrome<\/strong>. So after you type the word, try to read it both ways.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A palindrome is \u201ca word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backwards as forwards, e.g.\u00a0madam\u00a0or\u00a0nurses run&#8221;. &#8220;The word palindrome is derived from the Greek &#8216;palin,&#8217; or &#8220;back&#8221; and &#8216;dromos&#8217; or &#8220;direction.&#8221; The actual Greek phrase\u00a0alluded\u00a0to the backward movement of the crab\u201d. \u2014 Read more on <a href=\"https:\/\/examples.yourdictionary.com\/palindrome-examples.html\">Palindromes on Example.com<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The funny part is, there are several instances of this mistake on several websites \u2014 even on Amazon titles.
