The following error message appeared each time I tried to run Audacity:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Audacity is already running.&nbsp;The system has detected that another copy of Audacity is running. Running two copies of Audacity simultaneously may lead to data loss or cause your&nbsp;system&nbsp;to crash, so is not allowed. Use the New or Open commands in the currently running Audacity process to open multiple projects simultaneously.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I assumed that it could be a migration issue. I had set the temporary folder for Audacity in the SD card which was not formatted as journaled.<\/p>\n<p>After a Google search and reading several recommended solutions, I tried few of those:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Delete lock file and temporary folder&nbsp;\u2014 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Failed<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Delete the lock file in the Audacity temporary folder.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the temporary folder itself.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each time I opened the Audacity after these tasks, temporary folders were created again, and a lock folder was also created in the temporary folder. Audacity failed to open.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Modify the temporary folder details in the Audacity Configuration File&nbsp;\u2014 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Failed<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>In Finder,&nbsp;<strong>Go<\/strong>&nbsp;&gt;&nbsp;<strong>Go to Folder<\/strong>.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Type or paste:&nbsp;<strong>~\/Library\/Application Support\/audacity\/<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Go<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Open the audacity.cfg file in a text editor.<\/li>\n<li>Modify the <strong>TempDir=<\/strong> line to point to a new temporary folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><strong>Kill the Audacity processes using Terminal&nbsp;\u2014 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Failed<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The process numbers kept on changing and even kill command did not work as expected.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Uninstall and Reinstall Audacity&nbsp;\u2014 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Failed<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Uninstalled Audacity and reinstalled the application. But, got the error again.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Uninstall Audacity &gt; Remove Configuration File &gt; Reinstall<\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong style=\"letter-spacing: 0.1em;\">Resolved<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Uninstall Audacity.<\/li>\n<li>Delete Audacity lock file in the temporary folder.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the Audacity temporary folder.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the Audacity configuration file:\n<ol>\n<li>In Finder, <strong>Go<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Go to Folder<\/strong>.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Type or paste: <strong>~\/Library\/Application Support\/audacity\/<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Go<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Delete file audacity.cfg<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install Audacity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Audacity is working fine now.<\/p>\n<p>For details on Audacity Preferences:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/manual.audacityteam.org\/man\/preferences.html#stored\">http:\/\/manual.audacityteam.org\/man\/preferences.html#stored<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--extended--><!--extended--><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Audacity 2.1.2, macOS Sierra 10.12.1 After I upgraded my SSD for MAC, Audacity failed to open.
