Mr. S was waiting for someone near a Lake\u2026 looking at the already polluted lake.<\/p>\n
An old dull teal scooter came towards him\u2026 slowly\u2026 and took a right turn towards the lake.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n This is not the person he was waiting for. <\/span><\/p>\n But, many things on the scooter caught his attention\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n more attention than the rider.<\/p>\n the black plastic cover that was hung on one side of the handle,<\/p>\n the white plastic cover\u2014much larger than the black one\u2014 kept safely near the rider\u2019s leg\u2026<\/p>\n the old number plate\u2026the smoke from the exhaust\u2026<\/p>\n The scooter stopped on the newly and illegally filled lake bed.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The rider looked left, then right, and then a sweeping 360 degree\u2026<\/p>\n In a swift action, he threw the black cover to the lake…<\/p>\n one more second, and there goes the large white plastic cover\u2026to the lake.<\/p>\n Relieved\u2026the rider turned the scooter and went back the same way he came.<\/p>\n A week later\u2026<\/p>\n Mr. S is standing near the same lake. Curiously watching the vehicles filling the lake bed with construction debris.<\/p>\n Here comes the same scooter… but today there are two riders on the scooter.<\/p>\n The pillion rider is a teenage boy\u2026 and he is carrying a large white cover.<\/p>\n The scooter, as usual, stopped near the lake.<\/p>\n The rider looked around…<\/p>\n and in a second the black plastic cover flew into the lake…<\/p>\n and in another second\u2026<\/p>\n the teenager threw the large white plastic cover into the lake.<\/p>\n Relieved, the rider turns the scooter and takes the same way back home.<\/p>\n A large certificate appears in the polluted air\u2026<\/p>\n visible just to Mr. S.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026 the Teenager has successfully completed the training on how to pollute lakes and water bodies\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n \u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n [Story based on true events that happened near the Somsandrapalya Lake in HSR Layout, Bangalore.]<\/p>\n Photographs of Somsandrapalya Lake taken in 2013:<\/p>\n This road to the KCDC plant is believed to be an illegal filling of lake bed.
